Our Playbook: Culture Within Arm’s Reach
Join Stanton Global and you’ll receive a Playbook. It stays on your desk, where the working day happens. And no, you don’t need to know the difference between a ruck and a maul to use it.
Our Playbook puts two things into simple language: the way we play, our culture, and how we show up, our values. It gives everyone a shared understanding of what being part of this team means.
Why the rugby theme?
Because it makes the message stick.
“If you drop the ball, you pick it up” is a fairly memorable way of explaining ownership. So is “We don’t blame the ref. We play the next phase” when a challenge needs a solution. Rugby gives us a language for things that matter at work: supporting each other, taking responsibility and keeping the team moving forward.
Our five playing principles
1. Think Big
Never settle. Play for territory, not just possession.
2. Act Like Owners
Own it. If you drop the ball, you pick it up.
3. No BS
Short on nonsense. Big on growth. Say it straight. Fix it fast.
4. Solve Problems
We don’t blame the ref. We play the next phase.
5. Enjoy the Journey
Take your team on the ride. No solo runs. We move the ball.
These principles ask us to look beyond the immediate task, speak honestly, tackle problems and bring others along. There’s room for ambition, accountability and a bit of enjoyment along the way.
The real test is an ordinary working day
Culture shows up when a colleague needs help, when feedback is uncomfortable or when something hasn’t gone to plan. Do we communicate clearly and treat people with honour? Stay coachable? Act with integrity under pressure? Remember to celebrate someone else’s success? These everyday choices give our values meaning.
That’s why every new employee receives the Playbook and keeps it close. It’s a useful reminder of the commitment we make to one another, especially on the busy days. The line that brings it all together?
“We win together. Or not at all.”
